Visit the lovely Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. There is a lot of history here and you can visit places like Amherst Museum, this is in 35 acres park that is home to frontier life for this area and you can see many restored buildings, such as the school house.

Children young and old are sure to love the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum as this is a unique place to see carousels. Buffalo has many events throughout the year and it could be a good chance to see some great fairs, so check out what could be on for the times you are there.
